October and November the Inn will be closed all day on Sundays- we need to review our Sunday offering (currently throwing more roasts away than serving), check out the opposition, have some down time (recent trip advisor review mentioned that although we ticked all the boxes we looked jaded), make up a new menu for weekdays, have a social life, lack of staff ( not keen on taking on a full time member of staff over the winter for them to leave in early summer as has happened on 6 previous occasions)
When we first arrived we had a good drinking crew in on Sunday, now it has dwindled to 2 or 3.
Michaela has now left the building- gone to work at the Royal Oak in Marlborough. She has been with us for 5 years, and has worked in all departments – we wish her luck.
Darts Old v Young Thursday 11th October – will the experience be repeated?
Poker night, second Friday of the month.
Our resident photographer, Graham Stewart has loaned some wildlife photos in the restaurant, please take a look next time you are in.
Curry nights every Thursday. Currently £9.55 for poppadums', curry, rice, side and naan bread. Quote from our recent unannounced hotel inspection “The dishes were attractively presented in white contemporary china showing off the colour of the food” the inspector went onto say how the food was, finally noting “All credit to Ali for providing a very well executed and presented meal”
The whole of the inspection of the rooms and hospitality is in the same vein!
I am currently finalising food and drink deals for the winter, please check notice boards for exclusive deals.
Jan & Gerry will be taking over on Tuesday October 16th as we are going to Egypt for a week.
Half marathon Cardiff, I will be partaking of this event on Sunday 14th of October. I’m looking forward to being part of the Ogbourne running club, starting soon.
See you all soon
“May your god go with you”,
Mike.
P.s. taking bookings for Christmas day- see menu
