About the Inn
You will find our bed and breakfast a delight (rooms are being renovated this year) , and The Inn With the Well is in a beautiful location for touring the local areas such as Avebury, Salisbury, the Cotswolds, Bath, Oxford, Wootton Bassett, Crop circles (in season) and Marlborough (5th best High street in Britain), or as a pleasant retreat from those business meetings in Swindon. We are very close to the Ridgeway path (Europes oldest path), If you are walking you will find the baths found in all rooms very relaxing after a long day of walking.
We set you up for the day with a hearty cooked breakfast or the very popular vegetarian breakfast, and we can also provide a highly rated, substantial packed lunch.
There are 6 high quality rooms (4 of which are on the ground floor) close to the pub, so you can eat, drink and sleep at the Inn in comfort. The Inn is just 5 minutes from Junction 15 of the M4 Motorway, and is well signposted on the A346, and is a stones throw from the Ridgeway walk and 2 golf courses.
For dog lovers we have four dog friendly rooms – 2 double rooms and 2 twin rooms (please request this when booking, 2 of which have direct access to the outside), and some lovely walking options with the Ridgeway Path, the disused railway path on our doorstep and Savernake forest only a 10 minute drive away. Of course your lovely dogs also stay free and are more than welcome in our dog friendly pub.
Children are welcome in the bar until 21.00.

The Inn was easy to find from the Postcode. It was fairly quiet, and I felt safe there, a consideration if you are a woman travelling alone. The room was reached via an annexe, so you needed to go outside to get into the pub, but I think that was mentioned when I read the details. I was made to feel welcome, and the food was good.

A great base near Swindon
I stayed at the Inn With The Well for 5 nights for the duration of the Air Tattoo, and it was the perfect base for my trip.
The room was clean and amazingly comfortable. I’d be asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
Whilst I wasn’t there for breakfast, I was provided breakfast in the room which really set me up for the day. The evening meals were excellent!
Special thanks go to Megan, Mike and the team. They really made me feel at home.

Great pub. Great hosts
Great stopover whilst enroute to Cornwall from Essex. Hosts were lovely and food was great. The room was spacious, very clean and quiet. This is also a proper pub so if you like your real ale you’re in for a treat! As others have mentioned, this looks ideal for accommodation whilst walking the Ridgeway.

A hidden gem in a very pretty village
Would give 6 stars if allowed
Location
The village is extremely well located for exploring a large area of England. Easy access from major roads to many attractive villages and sites. The village itself is as picturesque as many of the more popular tourist list ones.

Outstanding – humour, information, accommodating of tired walkers.

Our twin was very clean, large and comfortable. Plenty of heating if cold weather or to dry out after being drenched. Bath to soak tired bodies. Shower or hand held shower over bath. Great hot water. Comfortable beds.

Great vegan food
A friend and I enjoyed two great suppers here while walking the Ridgeway. We’re vegans and were delighted by the Middle Eastern platter, and the spinach and chickpea curry (as well as the chips!) Everything was freshly-cooked and showed imagination and flair with spices. We were also very happy when we opted for pudding one night and got a delicious vegan cheesecake with ice cream instead of the usual sorbet or fruit salad. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, and we would have happily gone back for a third supper!
